My dear friend, today we will meditate on Proverbs 15:29, which says, "The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous."

In life, we may see many wicked people flourishing. They may get a new job or promotion and continue to rise in their careers. When we see this, we might question why they are succeeding while we, who are trying to lead a righteous life, are not. We may wonder why they are achieving success before us despite our hard work and deserving nature. However, the Bible offers guidance in Proverbs 10:30, which states, “The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the land. Their name will not endure, but the name of the righteous will never be uprooted.”

So, what is the power of the prayer of the righteous? This is emphasised in James 5:16-18, where it says, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again, he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." You can find the detailed account of this incident about Elijah in I Kings chapter 18. Such is the power of the prayer of the righteous!

My friend, when Elijah prayed for something not to happen, it did not occur. However, when he prayed for rain, the heavens provided. Similarly, when you pray, God will listen. If we lead a righteous life, God will pay attention to our prayers and fulfill our requests. Today, as you pray, God will hear you and perform miracles for you because He listens to the prayers of the righteous. Let's pray today and ask Him for whatever we need. He will provide for us.

Loving Lord, thank You for assuring me that You are listening to my prayers and will bring answers from above. Even as I am praying now, I know You are paying attention to my prayer. You are aware of my every need. I pray that You will meet all my needs according to Your riches in glory, strengthen me spiritually and physically and shower Your blessings upon me. Please remove from me anything that is displeasing in Your sight and let Your goodness overflow in my life. Guide me always so that I can become more righteous with each passing day and bring honour to Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
