My dear friend, today we are meditating on Proverbs 11:25, "A generous person will prosper, whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." We all know the Bible incident of Jesus feeding the five thousand. When Jesus saw the crowd coming toward Him, He was moved with compassion, and He asked one of His disciples. He asked Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” Although Jesus knew what He was going to do, He asked him to test him. Philip said that it would take more than half a year's wages to buy bread for each one to have a bite. Another one of His disciples, Andrew, spoke up and said, “Here is a boy who has five small loaves and two small fish.” Then Jesus told the people to sit down, and He took the loaves and the fish and gave thanks, and He multiplied them and fed the entire crowd. Everyone had enough to eat, and they had even 12 baskets remaining.
Yes, that is how the two fish and the five loaves of bread that the little boy gave Jesus multiplied to feed five thousand people. The little boy would have thought, how is this little meal going to satisfy five thousand people? But with a generous heart, he gave it to Jesus, and Jesus, with His generous heart, multiplied it so that there were baskets remaining. Today, my friend, when you sow into the Lord's ministry, you may say, I only have this much. How is it going to be enough? You may say, when you're feeding the poor, I'm only helping this many people. How can I make a change? I've only comforted two or three souls. How will it even make a difference? But my friend, when you do it with a generous heart, you may think it is such a little amount, but when you give it out of the generosity of your heart, in the midst of you having nothing in your life, God will make it prosper and you will see the rewards being multiplied.
The world may say you get what you sow, but when you sow in the midst of having nothing in your hand, God will make it multiply so that you have baskets remaining. We see so many people who sow after selling their land and from the money that they get, they sow into the ministry, and God blesses them enough to build two of their own homes. Or they just give 10 rupees out of the 100 rupees they earned that day. God multiplies it and helps it to sustain the ministry and bring blessings to them also. God enables them to educate their children, to build a home and to come up in their life because of that small seed that they sow from the nothing that they have. In the same way as you give out of the generosity of your heart, God will make you prosper. And He will help you to have baskets overflowing. As you refresh others, you will be refreshed. So don't stop sowing to the kingdom of God. God will prosper you when you do so, and He will refresh you and bless you.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You for promising that a generous person will prosper and that those who refresh others will be refreshed. Lord, even now, I bring to You whatever I have, however small it may seem. I offer it to You with a willing and a loving heart. Please multiply it for Your glory and let it bless many lives. Teach me to give even when I have little. Help me to sow in faith, trusting that You will bring the increase. Lord, as I commit to refresh others, I know that You will refresh my soul and make my life a powerful testimony of Your miraculous provision and compassion. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
