My friend, it is a joy for me to greet you today. We are meditating on Psalm 23:3, which says, "He refreshes my soul." Yes, God will refresh your soul today. He will fill you with His peace and restore you. Our thoughts, emotions, wants, and needs all stem from our soul. Everything we intend for our life, everything we desire, and everything we imagine for our future is contained within our soul. Statistics tell us that we have approximately 60,000 thoughts per day, and 75% of them are repetitive. What occupies our minds? How can I be successful in life? How do I provide for my family? How do I manage my business? How do I protect my reputation? Whom will I marry? What does my future hold - my family, my career, my life? What should I do? What steps should I take? Not only do we ask ourselves these questions, but we also worry, “What if things don’t go as planned? What if I fail? What if I can’t pay my bills on time?” These emotions, these endless thoughts, all reside in our soul.
Many times, when these thoughts become overwhelming, we are filled with stress and fear, making it difficult to move forward in life. Perhaps it's fear of failure, fear of uncertainty, or even fear of shame that holds us back. Or perhaps it's stress, the weight of obstacles, the burden of responsibilities, or the attacks of the enemy that hinder our progress. Yet, in every situation, whether we are experiencing joy or hardship, God refreshes our soul and fills us with His peace. When people seek refreshment, they may turn to the world. Some go to a spa, get a massage, and feel temporarily relaxed. Others visit a movie theatre to escape reality for a while. Some call their friends and go out, hoping to unwind. But when they return home, their problems, worries, and anxious thoughts are still waiting for them. Those fears, doubts, and negative thoughts continue to run through their minds, robbing them of sleep and peace. But even in this, God has an answer for us. As David declares in this verse, "God refreshes our soul."
So how does He do it? Through His Word. Each day, when we meditate on the Scriptures, God gives us a new perspective on life, a new revelation on how to walk in His ways. Through the examples in the Bible and the truths found in His Word, He teaches us how to live. He gives us a promise, saying, "I will be with you", and guides us, "Take care of your family this way." "Handle your business this way." "Move forward in your academics this way." "Lead your life in this way." Each morning, He refreshes our soul through His Word.
So, my friend, let us be refreshed today by His Word. As Jesus said, "Give us this day our daily bread." His Word will nourish your soul, renew your mind, and guide your steps. Let us thank Him today for His refreshing presence in our lives. As we are filled with His Spirit each day, He will fill us with His perfect peace.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I thank You for refreshing my soul today. In the midst of my countless thoughts and worries, You fill me with Your perfect peace. When fear and uncertainty try to overwhelm me, You are my refuge and strength. Teach me to trust in Your Word, which gives me wisdom and direction each day. Guide my steps in my family, career, and life, as You have promised to be with me. Let Your Spirit renew my mind and fill me with hope and joy. I surrender my worries to You, believing that You will take care of everything. Thank You for Your endless love, grace, and the peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
