Dear friend, as it says in Isaiah 66:13, the Lord declares, “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” Typically, a father is seen as the loving leader of the family, while a mother is the leading nurturer. Through this, children learn about strength from their father and tenderness from their mother. That’s why God lovingly compares Himself to a mother.
Once, a tragic news report emerged about an airline crash shortly after takeoff. In that crash, 155 people lost their lives. Remarkably, the sole survivor was a four-year-old girl. You may wonder how such a young child could survive when everyone else perished. Do you know what really happened? As the plane was falling, the little girl’s mother unbuckled her own seatbelt, knelt in front of her daughter, and wrapped her arms and body tightly around her. She refused to let go, shielding her child from harm. The mother used her own body to protect her little girl from death.
In the same way, did you know that Jesus also “unbuckled His seatbelt” by taking the humble form of humanity? By suffering on the cross and offering His body, He shielded us from eternal death. Jesus comforts us more tenderly than even a mother. As Philippians 2 reveals, in Jesus, we find unfathomable encouragement, deep comfort, and the incomparable consolation of love. This divine comfort penetrates our innermost being, a solace that no one else can provide. People around us, no matter how much they care, cannot match the comfort Jesus offers. Human love, though precious, cannot equal the depth of His divine compassion.
In times of sorrow and difficulty, we can run to Jesus and experience His tender comfort, just like a mother’s embrace. During our trials, He fulfills His promise to comfort us in unique and powerful ways. Sometimes He fills us with His Spirit; other times, He shields us with His power. Through His divine comfort, He lifts us from our sorrow and fills our hearts with joy simply by knowing that He is for us. It is through this divine tenderness that we truly learn the heart of Jesus. That’s why the Lord lovingly says, “Let Me comfort you just like a mother.” A mother may, at times, forget her child, but Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. Even our earthly mothers cannot be with us at all times, but Jesus, our heavenly comforter, is with us in every season of life. May the God of all comfort embrace you with His tender love and comfort you, just like a mother.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your tender love and constant presence in my life. As a mother comforts her child, You embrace me with Your tender care. Jesus, You shielded me from eternal death through Your sacrifice on the cross. In times of sorrow and trial, I run to You, knowing that You alone can comfort me from within. Fill my heart with Your Spirit, surround me with Your peace, and lift every burden from my soul. Teach me to trust in Your unfailing love, even when others fall short. Let Your compassion bring joy and hope to my heart. Let me always remember that You are for me, walking beside me in every season of life. Thank You for never leaving me or forsaking me. I rest in Your arms, knowing that Your love will sustain me forever. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
