My dear friend, today we are meditating on I John 2:17, “The world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” Yes, my friend, God calls us to submit to His will. No matter how hard it is, no matter how difficult it may seem, He desires our obedience so that our name will last forever.
Often, we focus on building a life for ourselves, accumulating wealth, saving diligently, working tirelessly to establish our reputation, and advancing our careers. But in the midst of it all, we sometimes fail to pause and listen to God’s voice, asking what He wants us to do in this life. We forget to obey His commands. At the end of our journey, when we stand before God in heaven, we don’t want to hear Him say, “Who are you? I don’t know you.” Even if we have achieved great fame and success in this world, what will it profit us if we don’t truly know God, and He doesn’t know us? The Bible clearly warns us of this in Mark 8:36, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet loses his own soul?” In Mark 10:17-18, we see a man approach Jesus and ask, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus replied, “You know the commandments: You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honour your father and mother.” The man answered, “Teacher, I have kept all these commandments since I was a boy.” Then Jesus looked at him with love and said, “One thing you lack: go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” But the man’s face fell, and he walked away sad because he had great wealth. He wanted to cling to his possessions, his status, and his privileges rather than surrender them to follow God’s will. Sometimes, God asks us to give up the things we hold dearest. It may be our wealth, our loved ones, our careers, or the accomplishments we’ve worked so hard to achieve. He may call us to set aside our plans and embrace His plan, even when it feels challenging or uncertain. When we hear His voice saying, “Give it all away and follow My will,” it may feel overwhelming. But when we trust Him and obey His call, we will receive treasures in heaven and inherit eternal life.
Today, God may be whispering to you, placing a small urge in your heart. Listen closely to His voice. Do what He asks you to do. Follow His plan. Surrender to His will. And when you stand before Him one day, you will hear the beautiful words, “Well done, My good and faithful servant.” Isn’t that what we are living for? Isn’t that the ultimate joy we desire? Let us submit to His will today. Trust Him with the desires of your heart, for He knows them well. He will perfect everything according to His plan, and He will guide and care for you every step of the way. Would you submit to His will today?
PRAYER:
Loving Lord, thank You for Your Word that reminds me to align my life with Your will. Help me to surrender all I hold dear, my wealth, ambitions, and even my loved ones to follow Your perfect plan. Grant me the courage to obey, even when the path is hard, and the call is difficult. Let me hear Your voice clearly, guiding me each step of the way. Let my life reflect obedience and faithfulness to You, bringing honour to Your name. Please teach me to trust You with my desires because You care for me deeply. Lord, when I stand before You, I should hear You say, “Well done, My good and faithful servant.” So, keep me steadfast in my journey to eternal life with You. Thank You for Your unfailing love and guidance. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
