Dear friend, today we are going to meditate on Matthew 5:14. The Bible says, "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." In John 1:4, the Bible also declares, "In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind." We cannot shine by ourselves; the light comes from God. The very next verse says, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." This world is full of darkness. But when we are filled with the life of God, we dispel the darkness around us and begin to shine for His glory. Saul was once walking in darkness, persecuting Christians. But when Jesus appeared to him, he saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around him. From that moment, God touched him, and he began to minister to people. The more he ministered, the more of God's light shone upon him. Yes, God desires the same for us.
A Tamil proverb says, "The more we draw water from the well, the more we get out of it." The well never runs dry; water keeps flowing. Likewise, the more we share the good news of God, the more we shine for the Lord. We are not only called to proclaim the good news, but we must also serve Him in every way possible. We can be kind to others, share our testimony, and even in small ways, reflect the light of God. The Bible speaks of John the Baptist in this way. Jesus Himself said in John 5:35, "John was a lamp that burned and gave light." He burned brightly with the light of God. Yes, the light we shine does not come from ourselves, but it is a reflection of God's glory.
Dear friend, you are not alone. Christ in you is the hope of glory. He enables you to reflect His light. "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn." (Isaiah 60:1,3) Even now, the light of God is shining upon you. In India, we have over 100 Prayer Towers, which we call ‘Lighthouses’ for the people. They draw many towards God. These lights are being kindled through prayer. As people come seeking prayers and receive miracles from God, they, in turn, begin to pray for others. The life of Jesus enters them, and they receive His light. That is why they step forward boldly, shining for the Lord with full strength. May you become one of them.
Even today, prepare your heart to receive the light of God. The Bible says, "Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence." (Psalm 89:15) May you see the face of God, and may you truly become the light of the world!
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for calling me to be the light of the world. Fill me with Your life so that I can shine for Your glory. Dispel every darkness around me and make me a vessel of Your love. Like Saul, transform my life so that I can boldly proclaim Your name. Help me to share Your good news and serve You with a joyful heart. Let my life be a reflection of Your divine light, just as John the Baptist burned for You. Let me walk daily in the light of Your presence and draw others toward You. Lord, make me a lighthouse of hope, guiding many into Your fold. I surrender myself to You. Shine through me, Lord Jesus! In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
